Americares India is Responding with Emergency Medical Aid for Survivors of the Worst Floods Since 1924
BD is supporting Americares India response to Kerala floods as more than 200,000 families have taken refuge in relief camps set up across the state. With thousands of people stranded in crowded shelter camps under difficult conditions, the organization is responding to the immediate need for medicines and medical supplies as the threat of water- and air-borne diseases increases. To protect the health of families when they return from relief camps to their ravaged homes, Americares India will provide health and hygiene kits as well as mother and child care kits. To ensure access to health care in the affected communities, the India Emergency team will conduct health camps and provide medicine and medical supplies to hospitals and health centers, so they can meet the health needs of survivors.
With a robust pre-positioning plan and strong pan-India network of partners, Americares India works through the complete cycle of preparedness, response and recovery, and stays as long as needed, providing immediate relief to survivors and helping to restore health services for long-term impact.
